Objectives

The participant:

• Gains a deeper understanding of the key levers for cost optimization in the Azure Public Cloud and can practically apply them in daily work.
• Learns, through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises, how to effectively use both BMW's own tool “CLEA” (Cloud Efficiency Analytics) and Azure native tools to:
  1. Gain transparency on costs and consumption.
  2. Identify and implement optimization potential.
• Is able, after this training, to:
  1. Conduct their own analyses using CLEA.
  2. Use best practices as input for their projects.
  3. Apply cloud resources and services in a more targeted and cost-efficient manner.

• Cost Allocation and Transparency | Billing Account, Subscriptions, Roles, Azure Cost Management and Billing.
• Azure Discount Models | Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Spot and more.
• Compute | Compute, Azure Container Apps, AKS, 4Wheels.
• Storage & DB Services | Blob, File, Table, Queue, DB for MySQL/PostgreSQL/MariaDB/SQL DB.
• Networking Services | VNet, Gateways and more.
• Other cost-relevant services | Data Factory, Monitor, Log Analytics.
• Outlook | Roadmap and challenges.

Target Group

• Employees who want to develop a deep understanding & practical experience in cost optimization in the Azure Public Cloud and usage of the CLEA Tool (Cloud Efficiency Analytics) and already have a good understanding of and hands-on experience in the Azure Public Cloud, CLEA and Azure Portal.

Prerequisites

To be eligible to enrol into this course, you must have completed the following courses: 

• WBT - Cloud Basic 1 (ITEM_9175).
• WBT - Cloud Basic 2 Azure (ITEM_71107).
• XLAB - BMW Cloud Potential Azure (ITEM_37012).
• WBT - XLAB - Finops Fundamentals Self-Learning Course (ITEM_80063).
• Participants should already have a good understanding of and hands-on experience in the Azure Public Cloud. They should have worked with CLEA and the Azure Portal.
